Known for their swift pace, arresting visuals, and punchy copy, these advertisements seek to leave a powerful impression in just a few seconds. In this article I’ll explore some of the best ways to leverage the power of ChatGPT to craft brief, urgent and powerful 'Don't Blink' ad copy which can then be used with one of our 350+ punchy stomp templates to easily produce an impressive video.

How to talk to ChatGPT

There are a few key points to bear in mind when instructing ChatGPT to craft such ads:

Specify your needs clearly

Make sure you clearly mention the purpose of the ad and the product or service. If you have a clear target audience specify that as well. State any unique selling points that should be highlighted. The more specific the instruction, the better the model can generate content that suits your needs.

Limit word count

'Don't Blink' ads are known for their brevity. In your instructions, specify a word or character limit for each sentence or the entire ad. For instance, you might ask for sentences that are exactly five or eight words long.

Request powerful language:

Ask for rhetorical devices

An example of a good instruction would be:

"Write three 8-word sentences for a 'Don't Blink' style ad that promote a new energy drink called 'Zest'. The ad should highlight the drink's natural ingredients, provide a sense of urgency, and use power words for impact."

This will write three sentences that should be eight words (though as we’ll soon see not always exactly) that promote an energy drink.

Using ChatGPT I created two stomp style ads:

A realty company

I went with Minimal Stomp to create an ad for an imaginary realty company. There are 14 text placeholders in my templates which is how many words I want ChatGPT to generate. Structured just like the example above, I asked it to

“Write five 14-word sentences for a 'Don't Blink' style ad that promotes a luxury realty service called ‘Palm Tree'. The ad should highlight homes in exotic places, provide a sense of comfort, and use words that promise a feeling of peace.”

I like the fourth suggestion, though you might notice it’s only 13 words. This happens sometimes but the fix is easy. I’ll just reword to

“Your personal sanctuary awaits in exotic locales with Palm Tree Realty's luxurious, peaceful homes.” Let’s put that into the template.

Not bad, though I think I would rather place Palm Tree Realty at the end, so I’ll reorder the sentence into “YOUR personal sanctuary awaits in EXOTIC locales with LUXURIOUS, peaceful HOME(s). Palm Tree Realty.” and produce my video in HD. I capitalized and stylized some words for added emphasis.

A design conference

I wanted to make an event promo, so I took the Stomp Typo Opener and created an ad for a text only ad for a design conference. This time I needed 10 words so I asked ChatGPT to:

“Write five 10-word sentences for a 'Don't Blink' style ad that promotes a pioneering design conference called "DesigNXT". The ad should highlight that the conference promotes cutting-edge design in digital media and web, create a sense of FOMO, and use power words to reflect how groundbreaking the event is.”

Funnily enough, I like the fourth suggestion again, it’s also 10 words this time. Let’s put it in the template.
