InPlayer and Videobolt Join Forces

Our latest collaboration supports musicians' income with InPlayer's pay-per-view and live streaming platform.

Few content creators have toiled longer or harder to capture control of their means of production and build a sustainable business model than musicians. Even the musical artists who make it typically have found themselves beholden to record labels, management, venue promoters and ticket vendors along the way, and often wind up taking home just a sliver of the pie.
But the industry is changing. For all the havoc wreaked over the past two and a half years by COVID-19, one positive development for creators has been the pandemic-driven rise of the live stream and video creation.

Very soon music artists discovered a whole new market of ticketed virtual shows – and the possibility of a new and lasting, 100-percent-artist-controlled revenue stream. In an end-of-year 2020 report, music industry analysts MIDiA found that the total ticketed revenue from live-streamed concerts in December was up 292 percent from June.

With all this in mind, InPlayer and Videobolt have teamed up to offer a joint solution that enables musicians to generate a simple and cost-effective D2C revenue stream using premium digital content. Using InPlayer, their digital and content teams can now directly deploy a paywall over video or provide a subscription service using stunning video content created through Videobolt.

This partnership is built around the idea of finding the best solutions for musicians to easily produce professionally designed videos — and then protect them by a white-labeled InPlayer solution for a fully-branded consumer experience. In addition, Videbolt will be there to support them in producing high-quality video content that can be used to promote their live streams.

InPlayer and Videobolt will continue working together on finding best ways to support music artists’ content production.

About InPlayer

InPlayer makes it easy for musicians – or any other live acts – to broadcast through its Live product, which allows musicians to quickly and easily monetize immersive live video experiences, creating real-time connections with wall-protected, secured streams across all devices. By making concerts and content accessible across a number of platforms, a band’s fans can watch a concert while sitting in the car or in front of their television. Additionally, musicians are able to pre-sell tickets to live streams and measure the success of an event through post-event analytics.

And just as important, with the market for video-on-demand (VoD) ever-expanding, the growth of its audiences has also generated so many opportunities for content providers in the music industry to reach even greater revenues and widen their video content offerings. According to Statista, revenue in the video-on-demand segment is projected to reach US$99bn in 2022 and the number of users is expected to increase to 2,298m users by 2026.

To illustrate, in December 2020 one of InPlayer’s most successful clients in the music industry and a famous US rock band had to bring their traditional Christmas concerts online due to COVID-19. It turned out a big success, with gross revenue of $6M and an audience of 230,000 fans – more than if they had filled the ten arenas they usually tour every year.

Another client from the InPlayer portfolio started with a simple PPV event broadcast and, in light of its success, ran additional concerts including Valentine and Christmas specials, building an online audience of over 55,000 fans.

Both of these clients boosted sales by offering VIP exclusive tickets, and bundling merchandise with ticket sales to increase the average ticket value.
