First Author of the Month - Cute Rabbit
The very first interview with a designer from our authors community.
We are happy to have had the pleasure to talk to lovely Erandhi, our author of the month for June. You loved her colorful video templates from different categories - intros, outros, titles, slideshows and promos. She is a Sri Lanka based designer who has been a part of our author community since 2019. We spoke to her about motion design and art in general.

Tell us a bit about yourself - what's your name, how old are you, and where are you from?

Hi! I'm Erandhi from Sri Lanka. I'll be 40 soon.

What drew you to design? How did you start making animations?

I have loved art since I was a kid. Because of the desire for art, I studied Multimedia Technology at Leeds Beckett University, England. After I graduated, I started working as a 3D artist. A few years later, I decided to make some changes in my career. After great online learning and the excellent support of my husband, I started working as a designer and animator.

How would you describe your personal design style?

My design technique is bold & contrasting colors. I am very much inspired by the style of google material designs and Giant Ant. That doesn't mean I do not try other forms. I like to experiment a lot.

What was your experience with Videobolt so far?
Cute Rabbit
I have been active on Videobolt since May 2019, and there is only good stuff to say so far. What's most important for me is the creative freedom Videobolt offers, along with its excellent support. I love your audio engineers, who offer their support every time I struggle with audio. They are lifesavers for me since I am not good at audio editing or composing at all. Above all, I like the business model of Videobolt, in which the user does not need to possess any software other than the web browser. I think it solves the piracy issue as well, which is a huge relief.

We love getting to know our community. In that spirit, please tell us about your favorite movies and music. What do you listen to while working?

I really enjoy fantasy and 3D movies. Doctor Strange, Harry Potter, Brave, and Rio are some of my favorites. I like pop music—especially Anna Kendrick's songs.

We could all use some inspiration - please share with us your favorite artists or platforms.

My favorites are Giant Ant and oddfellows. Most of their designs and animations are joyful and pleasing to the eyes. Their flat design style does a great job of visual communication. And also, their transitions are seamless and beautifully executed.

For the end - what advice would you give to designers that are just starting their motion graphic careers?
Cute Rabbit
If you are an absolute beginner, invest in a good online course. Be very serious on your basics, and never stop sharpening your skills in design and animation.
