Inspiring Interview With the Bucket Design Team
Interview with the inspiring design duo from Italy, The Bucket Design, winners of our 'The Most Wanted' contest.
We love these two! Lorenzo and Mattia (The Bucket Design) have been a part of our design community since the end of 2019. They have so far created 33 video templates on our platform. We’ve had a chance to meet them once in our previous interview as the winners of our design competition, while now, they were picked as our designers of the month so we had one more amazing talk on creative topics.

Buogiorno Roma! We are happy to have a chat with you guys again. Since you are a team of two, how would you describe your team’s background and work ethics?
Lorenzo
As you know, we are a team of 2. We met a few years back. In addition to having a passion for what we do in common, and 2 newborns to cuddle, we have had very different life and work experiences that have led us to the same life vision. We both learn that even when you are lucky enough to do the job you love, you can get lost in the hectic and depersonalizing rhythm of agencies with the result of finding yourself, years later, with the feeling of having lived inside a bubble and having forgotten even the reason for so much sacrifice. For this reason the ethic that drives us today is made of determination and dedication toward our job as toward our personal life and activities. The love, passion and balance is our strength.

How do you spend your free time, do you have any hobbies?
Lorenzo
I love Movies. My favourite category is Feature Film, for sure. From an artistic point of view, I love the way the story is developed and told through images. On the other hand, from a technical side, I like the effort hidden behind that. Everything is always done meticulously and it's even beyond what an audience can see or imagine.
Milica Popovic
What about you, Mattia?
Mattia
I spend my time mostly playing with my two years old kid and watching dinosaurs on Netflix (he loves dino!). Beyond that, I love playing Futsal and getting a couple of beers with friends after the game.

What would you say are the main elements of a great work of art?
Lorenzo
I think it is the ability to look deep inside you and find your inner voice and let that take control of your emotions and body so that you can express true work of art. The visual designer wants today more than ever, to communicate a message, a story. The aim is to explain the human experience and to give the watching public the feeling and emotion of being part of the same story through images.
Milica Popovic
Mattia, you like clarity?
Mattia
I believe that the essential quality of a piece of art is clarity. Even if it's a mysterious, nonsense, or ambiguous work, you can still get clear the author's feelings, emotions, and questions. To do that, you have to know yourself deeply.

How do you see the design industry evolving in near future?
Mattia
I see that technology is going to take our industry to the next step. Tools, hardware, and software are getting cheaper and more open. Time is ripe for artificial intelligence and generative arts. A small artist now has the potential that only a big studio could have had just a few years ago. I guess in this scenario, ideas and vision are going to be more valuable than ever.
Milica Popovic
Lorenzo, what do you think?
Lorenzo
The most tangible positive change we’re going to see, whether we wanted it or not, is that working from home is possible. We just need to figure out right now how to do it, to preserve security and workflow with human contact. Right now, we’re in an emergency, so we’re just covering holes to stop the boat from sinking. But once we are there, we’re going to learn from this experience—I’d love to think that we are going to change the industry.

How do you manage to maintain high quality while working on so many projects?
Lorenzo
I think one of the big things is to do your best to continually learn. Seeing the glass as half full as much as possible and that every problem will help you grow if you let it. Working on your soft skills when dealing with all aspects of production and critical thinking will help you through the ups and downs. Be open to new techniques and processes within the specific software. When working on a project, make it as cohesive as possible and try to tell a story with it.
Milica Popovic
How you keep your passion alive?
Mattia
I think the secret is learning something new from each project, having the nerve to do something you never did before. It can get stressful when you have deadlines, but in the end, it's a great solution to get the best from your skills and keep the passion alive.

In the crazy times we live in, is there anything you would like to share with the world?
Lorenzo
It really seems a crazy period but I also believe that if we zoom out and look at the story in its entirety, we realize that periods of great uncertainty and difficulty for the human being have always existed. The difference lies in how we react to this situation which could hopefully make us feel part of the same large community as the entire population living in the same old world. I believe that until the preservation of the planet comes first with respect to our economic interests, events such as Covid or environmental disasters will occur more and more frequently with the intention of waking us up.
Milica Popovic
Mattia, what do you think about this topic?
Mattia
I hope that these difficulties we are living now will be an opportunity to build a stronger, larger, and better community. This could positively change our way of living.
